Preparing For Cosmetic Plastic Surgery

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

Congratulations – you’ve finally decided to take the next step and proceed with cosmetic plastic surgery. While this is an exciting time for you, we understand that you may also have some anxiety about the coming weeks.

To ensure your cosmetic plastic surgery experience is a safe and smooth surgery and recovery period, we’ve put together a few tips and strategies. From today until the morning of your surgery, use these tips to maximize your experience through careful planning.

Timing
Start by evaluating the amount of time you will need for your cosmetic plastic surgery procedure, and the amount of time you will need for recovery. Plan your surgery at a time when you social commitments are low, and you can take some time off of work. The key to a successful recovery from a cosmetic plastic surgery procedure is to take the needed time away, and relax as much as possible. Stress will only add more time for recovery.

The amount of time needed for each cosmetic plastic surgery procedure is different. Make sure you speak with your doctor before hand to understand the time for recovery. Share with him the type of activities you do in your normal routine, and any upcoming events that you may be preparing for.

Support
While most cosmetic plastic surgery procedures will not require bed rest, you may wish to have a few family members or friends that are willing to help out for the first week or so. Even though you are electing to have a cosmetic plastic surgery procedure, it is still real surgery, and you should plan accordingly.

Financing
Once you’ve decided on a cosmetic plastic surgery procedure, you must also decide how you will pay for it. Will you be obtaining financing, or have you had time to save for the procedure?

In addition to the cost of the surgery, you should also plan for small incidental expenses. If you don’t have adequate sick or vacation days stored at work, you may be required to take a few days without pay.

Being prepared will ensure your success with any cosmetic plastic surgery procedure you choose.

Colorado Cosmetic Surgeon Becomes Consultant and Trainer on Harmonic Facelifts

Monday, September 24th, 2007

Summary: Dr Randolph C Robinson has been selected to serve as a consultant with Ethicon Endo-Surgery, and will lecture and train other surgeons in using the Harmonic Scalpel to perform harmonic facelifts.

Denver, CO (PRWEB) September 24, 2006 –Dr. Randolph C. Robinson has announced his affiliation with Ethicon Endo-Surgery, makers of the Harmonic Scalpel, a Johnson & Johnson company located in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dr Robinson will now serve as a consultant with Ethicon Endo-Surgery, and will lecture and train other surgeons in using the Harmonic Scalpel to perform harmonic facelifts.

The Harmonic Scalpel was originally designed for general surgery, and was applied to the facelift operation several years ago in Paris, France by Dr Françoise Firmin. Dr Robinson trained under Dr Firmin in 1990-91, and observed Dr Firmin performing a harmonic facelift in Paris in December 2005. Dr Robinson began performing the harmonic facelift through his own practice in 2006.

The Harmonic Scalpel uses ultrasonic technology, and vibrates at a high frequency, 50,000 cycles per second, which seals the tissue as it dissects, and ultimately helps eliminate bruising typically associated with a facelift.

“The harmonic facelift shortens the recovery period significantly,” said Dr Robinson. “Compared to the more conventional facelift that is performed with scissors, the harmonic facelift reduces the normal bruising, allowing a patient to get back to his or her normal lifestyle almost a week earlier.”

Because of the benefits of using the Harmonic Scalpel in surgery, Dr Robinson will pioneer the use into other surgeries as well.

“Using harmonic technology will benefit patients in many aspects of cosmetic surgery because of the improved tissue response,” said Dr Robinson. “For instance, applying this technology into the Harmonic Breast Augmentation should decrease the risk of hematomas and muscle soreness, giving women another option in this popular procedure.”
